A bruised tailbone, is often known to cause immense pain, and discomfort. At times, the pain caused due to it is intense, and it can have an effect on your day-to-day life. The most obvious and common symptom of a bruised tailbone is experiencing pain in the coccyx area. The coccyx area is the lower part of the back where the tailbone is situated.

Treatment
  • A few weeks are required for the pain to subside, and the bruise to heal completely. You can opt for painkillers that are available in the market. Most of the time, these tablets work on a temporary basis. After you discontinue taking these tablets, there are chances that the pain may revert.
  • Avoid sleeping on beds that have an extremely soft and spongy fill as sleeping on soft surfaces tends to aggravate the pain. Hence, try to sleep on hard surfaces.
  • Applying an ice pack to the affected area will help to a degree. Place an ice pack on the area for 20 to 30 minutes. Repeat this treatment every 3 hours. These treatments may be continued to alleviate pain and discomfort. Usage of ice packs will make the area numb, thus, relieving the pain.
  • Include enough fiber, and fluids in your diet. This will help provide nutrients to your body, thereby accelerating the healing process.
  • Deep breathing exercises and warm water baths will also tend to be helpful.
  • Make sure that you wear comfortable footwear. Avoid heels.
You must exercise prudence, and your doctor without causing any delay. Being sapient in such matters pays in the long run. If the tailbone injury has been severe with the degree of discomfort ascending, seek medical aid. Indulging in a rigorous activity, or sustaining an intense impact on the tailbone, sequentially causing further complications, are possibilities that could be detected by a qualified chiropractor, or an orthopedic surgeon.
