RX Bars pride themselves on clean eating and ingredients from real foods. Artificial ingredients are not an option. And luckily, all bars tout one of their ingredients as āno B.S.ā We will leave you to think on that oneā¦
RX Bars to Avoid on Whole30
The only RX bars that do not follow the Whole30 guidelines are peanut butter, peanut butter chocolate, peanut butter and berries, and maple sea salt. Remember, peanuts are legumes and legumes are a no-no on Whole30. This leaves you with plenty of other flavor choices, though!
A Caveat for RX Bars
Now that weāve made you hungry, Whole30 strongly encourages RX Bars to be used as emergency food only. The diet brand found that many people were using these bars to cure their sugar cravings because of the yummy flavors or as a late-night treat. They want to emphasize that while all the ingredients are approved, the bars should be used appropriately while on the plan.
Other Brand Compliant Options
In addition to bars, some RX nut butters are suitable to eat on Whole30. Their plain nut butter or the vanilla almond butter can be eaten alone or used in delicious recipes!
Protein-Packed Recipes
Various recipes for snacks, smoothies, main meals and treats can be found on the RX Bar website. Some are even kid-friendly if youāre looking to satisfy all members of your family. Hereās our variation on two of the simplest recipes.
Ants on a Log
Wash and divide fresh celery. Cut celery into quarters and line it with the plain almond butter. Top the almond butter with bits of blackberries or raspberries.
Simple Protein Balls
This no-bake classic is super easy and convenient to have on hand. Simply mix together one- half cup of vanilla almond butter, a cup of rolled oats, Ā¼ cup of honey (local honey is always best), Ā¼ cup of chocolate chips and/or shredded coconut and a tablespoon of cocoa powder. Feel free to add in a few of your favorite berries if you wish, too.
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl, and form small one-inch sized balls in your hands. Store the protein balls in the refrigerator.
So, if you feel like you can be responsible and eat the Whole30 RX Bars appropriately, this is a great choice for the Whole30 plan. After all, they are easily found at Target, Whole Foods, Walgreens or online. Just remember to choose your bars wisely and donāt become too reliant on them to meet your goals.
