Abdominal pressure occurs in the abdominal wall tissues, leading to a heavy feeling in the stomach and sometimes, pain. Inflammation of the appendix

Certain disorders such as pancreatitis, hiatal hernia and gastroesophageal reflux can cause extreme abdominal pressure too. Inflammation of organs in the abdominal area can cause tenderness and stiffness in the abdominal muscles, leading to feelings of pressure and pain. In this case, the area around the stomach becomes sensitive and causes discomfort. It is common to experience abdominal pressure in the initial days of your menstrual cycle. Upper stomach pressure is also experienced during pregnancy. Sometimes, excessive abdominal exercises lead to pain in the stomach. This happens due to wear and tear of the abdominal muscles or may happen due to a muscle pull in the area.
Ways to Treat Abdominal Pressure
- Drink a lot of water and nutritious fluids that will help keep your stomach clear from toxins. Water is the best remedy for cleansing your stomach. Therefore, one must get into the habit of drinking a lot of water.
- In case of an upset stomach, eat small quantities of food, but make sure you eat healthy. Avoid oily or fried foodstuffs, as they can add to the feeling of stomach pressure.
- In case your abdominal pressure lasts for a long time or leads to unbearable pain, consult your doctor.
